Lake Zurich, Illinois
Lake Zurich is one of the more highly populated cities surrounding Chicago, situated in Lake County with the number of residents having grown to just over eighteen thousand. Frommer's rated it one of the top hundred best places to raise your family, and it also earned the title of one of the top 25 most affordable places to live in the entire country. If you're visiting Lake Zurich anytime soon, these are our favorite places to eat and chill in the 60047 zip code!
D & J BISTRO
D & J Bistro is hidden away in a strip mall, and because of that you might be apt to overlook it. But don't! We're a big fan of this place in particular because of their wine and beer selection, and their mixed drinks are very good too. We like eating at the bar, and you can either choose from the small plates menu which is designed specifically for those dining at the bar, or they'll also accommodate you with any order off the regular menu. Wonderful food, including rock shrimp and duck liver mousse! Try the desserts too!
Address: 466 South Rand Road
Hackney's is a traditional American restaurant that's got all your favorites including juicy hamburgers, delicious ribs, and an incredible onion loaf that's really one of their specialties. This place has unbelievably been open since 1939, and let's face it, no place stays open that long without being really outstanding at what they do. We love it when they have pot roast, and on any day we'd recommend the patty melt on rye. Everything here is fantastic! Very highly recommended.

WALKER BROS THE ORIGINAL PANCAKE HOUSE
Walker Bros is "The Original Pancake House" where you can enjoy the best breakfasts in town! The prices are very low, so you can really satisfy that appetite without having to break the bank! Most people think of this as a breakfast stop but they also have fantastic lunch and dinner. The staff is incredibly attentive to your needs, and that's half of what makes this place so very worthwhile. We'd recommend the Venicia Benedict! Some of the very best eggs we've ever had!
Address: 767 South Rand Road
DI PIERO'S RESTAURANT
Di Piero's Restaurant is your source in Lake Zurich for the most delicious pizza and Italian food around. The staff is very attentive and friendly, always quick to take your order and even quicker to bring it out to you! We enjoy their impressive wine selection, and the linguini with calamari is so packed with flavor. Great cannoli too. Many people get carryout from this place, but we love to eat it fresh and hot straight out of the kitchen. Very highly recommended!
Address: 17 East Main Street
Giordano's always gets a high recommendation from us no matter which location we're looking at, but the one in Lake Zurich is truly one of our faves. We love their thin crust, which is cut perfectly into square pieces. They put just the right amount of cheese on, a little heavier than the other places we frequent, and just the right amount of sauce. The chopped salad makes a great choice before you nosh on that pizza. Some say it's a little too pricey here, but we say you get what you pay for. Very good Italian food any time of day.

FRITZL'S COUNTRY INN
Fritzl's Country Inn is one of the most unique restaurants you'll ever have the pleasure of dining in. Their menu consists of European favorites, mostly of the German variety, and it's got that old fashioned supper club vibe that is all too hard to find nowadays. We love to come in for the fish fry, and we especially enjoy the fact that you can get potato pancakes with it instead of French fries! So good. It's family friendly and very comfortable here, and they've got great coffee too.

JULIO'S COCINA LATINA
Julio's Cocina Latina is a wonderful restaurant that blends the flavors of Mexico with the incredible tastes of South America and the Caribbean. There's even a little Jamaican and Tex Mex on the menu if you look closely enough! The dishes that they are best known for are their ceviche (so fresh and delicious!), their Pollo Caribe, and their Filete a la Tampiquena. It's beautiful inside the restaurant, and the service is superb. We'd recommend this place for special occasions, anniversaries, and romantic dates!
Address: 95 South Rand Road
We remember the days when Bacchus Nibbles was just a wine shop, but nowadays it's a full fledged restaurant and we love everything they've got to offer. (Note: They DO still have a wine shop on the premises!) The menu is divine, with so many choices, but the Coq au Vin is so delicious that we end up ordering that every single time! If you're looking for someone reliable to cater your private events, we would highly recommend Bacchus Nibbles to you. They have the best service and the most delicious food of anyone we know in the Chicagoland area.
Address: 20817 City Road
Gino's East is yet another in that wonderful franchise that offers some of the very best Chicago style pizza. The deep dish... well, there are just no words for how incredible it is. You will wish that you had a bottomless appetite so you could just keep eating it all night long. Note that their steaks and seafood are also to die for! It's hard to pass up that pizza, but if you do, the rest of the menu is delicious too. They've often got great live music going on here, which is a nice addition to your evenin.
