Wheeling, Illinois

Wheeling is one of the larger suburbs of Chicago, with a population of just under forty thousand and many attractions within city limits. It's accessible by train via Metra's North Central Service and by plane via Chicago Executive Airport. If you're heading into Wheeling this week, why not take a look at our grouping of the best bars and restaurants in the 60089 and 60090 zip codes? Here they are, below.

Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak is nothing short of amazing. This restaurant is upscale and yet so comfortable. It's great for those dates when you're really trying to impress someone special. We love their bone-in signature cuts, fresh fish, delicious crab and lobster, and of course their shrimp and scallops! Everything here is superb, including the service. And did we mention the live entertainment? It's very classy and romantic. Definitely one of our highest recommendations.

We generally don't recommend chain restaurants too highly, but Claim Jumper is one of the exceptions to that rule! They began in California in 1977 and have now expanded to 45 locations including this one in Wheeling. It's a family friendly environment that's also very appropriate for business lunches. We're big fans of their rotisserie chicken as well as their baby back ribs! Fabulous burgers and sandwiches too!

Some breweries ignore the food and just focus on the beer, but at Ram Restaurant & Brewery, both parts of the establishment get equal treatment! This family owned business has been going strong since 1971, we are big fans of their hamburgers, snadwiches, and seasonal brews! Their philly steak is particularly delicious, and there's nothing better to wash it down with than a Proud Mary Bloody Mary! So good!

Bob Chinn's Crab House is the kind of restaurant that you fall in love with after your first visit. Everything on the menu is so good, and it's all orchestrated by Bob Chinn, the friendly owner who has put so much care and attention into making this restaurant what it is today. The guests enjoy more than five thousand pounds of crab every single week, so you know that this place is good! Open since 1982, you know that no restaurant lasts that long unless it's something special!

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant isn't one of those lazy wine bars where all they give you is some easy appetizers with your wine. This is a full service restaurant with an incredible wine selection. The drunken shrimp is amazing, and the turkey and brie sandwich is an excellent choice for lunch. They've got seasonal wines that are hard to find anywhere else. They've got a great wine club too that's definitely worth joining!

Oh Buda di Beppo, how we love you. As we've said before we're not big fans of chain restaurants, but this is one that we have visited in a couple of different states and we really love them all. The portions of pasta are enormous, and we REALLY mean enormous. The drinks are generously sized too. And best of all, the atmosphere will make you feel that you've just stepped into an authentic ristorante in beautiful Italy. The service, too, is superb.

Tuscany Restaurant is yet another excellent Italian restaurant in Wheeling. You won't find any of that cookie-cutter stuff here... they've got one of a kind pasta, wonderful steaks and seafood, and daily specials that will really make your mouth water. They've got an impressive wine list too, and the ambiance is just right for a romantic date with the one you love! Highly recommended for those special anniversaries!

Tramonto's Steak & Seafood is not one of those pretentious steakhouses at all... rather it's a nice upscale restaurant where you'll feel completely comfortable and at home. They've got a gorgeous glass waterfall that takes up an entire wall, and an incredible display of ten thousand wine bottles. You will love the food and drinks here, but most of all the unparalleled atmosphere is what will keep you coming back! Very romantic.

The Old Munich Inn is one of the few old fashioned establishments left among so much modern upscale pretense. That's fine when you're in the mood for it, but when you're not, this cozy inn is the place to enjoy a hearty meal and an ice cold beer while really relaxing and recuperating after a long hard week at work. If you have an appreciation for things old and revered, you will definitely want to check this one out.

Sushi Gallery is a fusion sushi restaurant that blends traditional sushi with more modern creations. We're hooked on their one dollar sushi day, all day Mondays and Tuesdays! They've got an eight piece Sears Tower roll that consists of tuna, salmon, crab, cucumber, lettuce, avocado, and masago wrapped in soy paper with special sauce. So good! We're also hooked on the Latin Love, which is a 6 piece roll consisting of tuna, yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, wasabiko, and spicy mayo. Everytihg on the menu is fantastic!
