Wilmette is a village located only 14 miles north of Chicago's downtown area, and this is a very popular place to live while traveling into the city of Chicago for work. In 2007, Business Week ranked Wilmette the seventh best place in the entire country to raise children. You may not live in Wilmette, but if you're coming into the area perhaps to visit Gilson Park or Langdon Beach, or maybe to hit some balls at the Wilmette Golf Club, you will certainly need to know a few good spots to stop for a bite to eat. These are our picks for the 60091 zip code.
WALKER BROS ORIGINAL PANCAKE HOUSE
Walker Bros is the Original Pancake House, with great food cooked just right, plus delicious coffee and old fashioned service that you really can't find anywhere else. Extremely generous portions will satisfy even the biggest appetites! Join their e-club for extra savings. Great space to rent out for private parties too!

AKAI HANA RESTAURANT
Akai Hana is one of our favorite sushi restaurants in the entire Chicago area. One of the things we really love is that you can now buy rice wine sake for take out, which is just perfect for our party bus trips! Our favorite rolls here are the rainbow roll, the spicy tuna roll, and of course the classic California roll. The tables are sectioned off relatively privately, and the sushi bar is of course the best seat in the house!

HOMER'S RESTAURANT & ICE CREAM
Have you ever had homemade gourmet ice cream? If not, Homer's needs to be your first stop when you're in the Wilmette area. They have been rated top ten in the country by Bon Appetit magazine, number one ice cream by Pioneer Press, best in Chicago by Chicago Magazine, and finest in the nation by American Tasting Institute! We recommend the Green Tea ice cream, Apple Cinnamon ice cream, and the Maple Walnut ice cream! Delish!
Address: 1237 Green Bay Road
DEPOT NUEVO RESTAURANT
We love the slogan at Depot Nuevo... "Fresh fare... Latin flair." They've got curbside carryout just like the bigger restaurant chains do. We'd recommend the Seviche Boliviano with features bay scallops, tilapia, and shrimp marinated in lime and cilantro. Chef Alvaro's Sopa Maya is a Mayan chicken-lime soup with avocado and tortilla strips! And from the entrees, the Argentinian Style Flank Steak is the clear winner!

They've got great events and specials going on all the time, including four buck martinis and karaoke every Thursday, and weekend karaoke on occasion too. Check their website here for complete info.

Panda Express is that familiar Chinese fast food restaurant that's a guilty pleasure for so many of us. Their Thai Cashew Chicken is back, so get that while it's hot! You'll have your choice of entrees, 2-entree and 3-entree plates, panda bowls, panda feasts, and panda kids meals. Traditional dishes and more flavorful modern twists! Try them all.
Address: 3232 Lake Avenue
Sea Ranch is such a cool sushi restaurant. Definitely a different experience than all the others in the area. We love the Spicy Oregon, Spicy Tornado Roll, Spicy Caterpillar Roll, and the Spicy Hawaiian Roll, all of which are wrapped in soybean sheets instead of the traditional toasted seaweed! The Samurai roll is also highly recommended!

THE BOTTLE SHOP WINE CO. & BAR
"Putting some class in your glass since 2005." The Bottle Shop has free wine tastings every single Friday night and Saturday afternoon, with small batch wine, beer, and bubbles. You can build your own wine flight from ten wines by the glass and over 300 by the bottle! Great place to bring visitors from out of town, or to gather with your closest friends for some great wine and conversation.
